Yes I know I've been away and there's a reason behind it, my mac crashed and I've had so much catching up to do with uni work (as you can see)...
I had my final exam last week and have been buried in my books, that's why I've been slacking :)

I've went to see Wicked last week. One word = Amazing.
Wicked is wonderful, although I'm not the world's biggest musicals fan, I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was magical.

Hope everyone's been enjoying the sunshine (in the UK).

Last Day of High Street Fashion Week

It's the last day of London's High Street Fashion Week 2011!

So for today, I decided to use a gorgeous look with a blazer as my previous looks have been perhaps a bit too casual...

Look No 5:
Blouse and Blazer

This works well if you have a favourite clutch that you like to use and it also goes great with bold necklaces and bracelets.

London High Street Fashion Week

No matter where you are in the world, you've got something to smile about today! My American readers can look forward to Labor Day shopping today, while here in London it's the start of High Street Fashion Week!

Red Sole or Red Soul?

Ask a fashionista what red soles on shoes mean and they’ve got two words for you: Christian Louboutin.
On the other hand, ask your guy what red soles mean and they’ll probably answer: dirty shoes...

It's Christian Louboutin's brand identity and it's no surprise to many that they've attempting to sue other shoe brands for imitating their red soles. But it does seem slightly outrageous that they believe they can copyright the colour red on shoes!
Recently Christian Louboutin took YSL to court over the fact that YSL have a red shoe in their 2010 range which conflicts with Christian Louboutin's red shoe soles identity.

Well their lawyers are back from court and it doesn't look good as the judge said at the last court date - "I doubt you can trademark a color"...

To me the shoes look nothing alike, so I have no idea why Christian Louboutin is making a fuss here, it's not like they need the publicity. But what do you think? Should they be allowed to sue someone over a colour?

Halal Cosmetics

This may shock you but nearly all cosmetic products, such as skin creams, contain animal residues, including those of pigs.
This would immediately render them Haraam for the Muslims and non-Kosher for the Jewish.

This shocking revelation has only come to light recently and the cosmetics industry seems reluctant to address this issue. Animals by-products such as urine, gelatine, fats and acids are a staple ingredient for cosmetic products in modern times which would explain why the industry is hesitant to stop using them.

There are exceptions to the rule however as many new start up companies are bucking the trend and beginning to produce cosmetic creams without use of animal, specifically pig, ingredients. One such company is LuLu London Ltd., a premium brand start up from London England.

LuLu London's current product uses ingredients from the Black Pearls of Tahiti rather than animal residues. This innovative use of pearls creates a skin cream which is comparatively expensive to produce but is completely in line with Halal and Kosher standards. Effectively, it's a premium brand skin cream which can battle with the best whilst remaining animal-free.

And groups such as PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) approve of these new methods rather than the traditional trend of "slaughterhouses disposing of their animal by-products by selling them to cosmetics manufacturers".

So now that some manufacturers are beginning to produce Halal cosmetic creams, I guess the only question that remains is whether or not the consumers are willing to buy them?
